Rafael Nadal reinforced his status as the best player of the season by winning his second title Monday at the U.S. Open trophy and thirteenth Grand Slam tournament at the expense of world No.1 Novak Djokovic.
The current world No.2, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win in the last twelve fifteen games of the match was awarded its tenth trophy of the season, his second Grand Slam after Roland Garros, and the sixtieth of his career.
At only 27 years, only Switzerland's Roger Federer (17) and American Pete Sampras (14) have more Grand Slam titles than him.
The Spaniard broke down in tears on the short cement Flushing Meadows, struck by emotion. A year ago, he was nailed at home in Manacor by a serious knee injury that cost him seven months away and he did not know what direction his career would take.
Twelve months later, in front of the Queen Sofia of Spain, it has already achieved the best season of his career, posting a record of 60 wins and 3 losses and reached the final of twelve tournaments thirteen ( for ten titles). He now has a great chance to finish the year as world No.1.
His only misstep came at Wimbledon with a surprise from the first elimination round. Two weeks after his eighth win at Roland Garros, his knees were the most and Belgian Steve Darcis had enjoyed.

"For many reasons, this season is probably the biggest of my career in terms of emotions. This award means a lot to me, it's a special moment," said Rafa + +, which has not lost a match 2013 on cement (22 wins), the most traumatic surface to its knees.
Djokovic: "It's disappointing"
Nadal is installed in the match taking the first set but Djokovic responded by removing the second, winning 54 including an exchange of blows that will be remembered. The Serb was then able to break the entry in the third inning on a shutout. In control, he even provided a ball 0-3 on opponents' service that would allow him to lead a double break.
But Nadal then managed to completely switch off. Winning nine games in eleven (eleven WELL), it rose from a set and a break over late in the third set (0-2) to two sets to one and a break lead in the fourth set ( 3-0). At the heart of this amazing turnaround, the Mallorcan was able to save three break points at 4-4, 0-40. For Nadal, "It was the key moment" of his victory.
"It's disappointing to lose the third set when I dictated the game and I dominated the game from the middle of the second set, Djokovic responded, playing his fourth consecutive final at Flushing Meadows (beaten by Nadal in 2010 and 2013 , winner of Nadal in 2011, beaten by Andy Murray in 2012).

"It's my fault, I made unforced errors at crucial moments and Rafa started to play well. Suddenly, he led two sets to one. I could not m ' recover. I was supposed to realize my opportunities, I did not. Rafa certainly deserves this award, "said the Belgrade.
The Serb and the Spaniard met for the 37th time, a record in the Open era. Nadal now leads 22-15 against Djokovic (including 8-3 in Grand Slam). He equalized 3-3 in Grand Slam final.
Between them, Nadal and Djokovic have won 12 of the last 15 Grand Slam tournaments (since Roland Garros in 2010), including 7 for Nadal.
They are both selected to play Davis Cup this weekend. Djokovic of Serbia hosts Canada in the semifinals of the World Group while Spain received the Ukraine in a playoff.
